Why was all this amount of highly explosive materials stored in Beirut’s port? The government and the President were supposed to resign before we get an answer for this trivial question. We need to understand how we can live in a country where its capital’s residents are unaware of what is stored in its port’s warehouses.

Following the massive explosion that wrecked most of the city’s quarters, Beirut’s governor has declared the city a distressed area. In fact, the city has been distressed long before the explosion that sealed the great collapse. The city is distressed due to the three presidents, Michel Aoun, Nabih Berri and Hassan Diab. The city is equally distressed due to the government, parliament and banks, and most importantly thanks to an armed political party that is implicated in wars all over the region.

The causes of this mysterious explosion have not yet been revealed, and we have already witnessed numerous ambiguous explosions in the era of the Iranian influence. However, it is evident that a massive failure, corruption and a ruling gang are behind this explosion. Failure and corruption are the main causes why massive quantities of highly explosive materials were stored in a civil port. Now, the question is, and especially in light of this ambiguous power structure in the country, is there anything that is civil ? Are there any civil establishments in this country and under the rule of this leadership? And what is the criteria used by the leadership to differentiate between a civil and a military establishment?

Tonight, Beirut has been declared a distressed area. Indeed, it is distressed due to this massive explosion, bankruptcy and corruption, its presidents and government, and the deaths that we could not manage to accurately count yet, and over one thousand injured. Let us cry over Beirut.

As a matter of fact, this leadership cannot be trusted. The amount of destruction witnessed by the capital’s quarters was dreadful. All the wars that rocked this city did not cause this amount of devastation, the blast left the mountain residents terrified and knocked people down in the streets. This corrupt leadership is the reason for this bloody failure, the faces of the presidents and their stupid statements, the voice of the Minister of Interior as he announced that he was clueless, and the shadow of the Minister of Information escaping the questions of the press.

This blast has devastated an entire city, yet it failed to leave a mark on the features of the presidents, they are still presidents and their families are still enjoying happiness and joy rituals away from the faces shook by the explosion.

Nevertheless, not a single official resigned. This massive failure that left dozens of deaths and over a thousand injuries, and all this blood did not urge any official to resign. None of the presidents were ashamed of this blood, and not a single official has shed a tear while signing his resignation letter.

Why was this significant amount of highly explosive materials stored in Beirut’s port? The government and the President were supposed to resign before we get an answer for this trivial question. We need to understand how we can live in a country where its capital’s residents are unaware of what is stored in its port’s warehouses. Who leads this country? And who is guiding them? And what do we get from this sea that separates us from the world? This country is truly a scary place. The city that was devastated in a few seconds will never be able to recover if the explosion will remain mysterious. Beirut residents will never be able to enjoy their lives amid these unsolved mysteries.

In his first statement after the explosion, Lebanon’s Prime Minister called it a catastrophe. What a new discovery made by our Prime Minister, the renowned academic. It is indeed a catastrophe, only we were stunned by this catastrophe on the day your government was formed, Mr. Prime Minister. Furthermore, he has noted that the explosive materials were stored in Beirut port’s warehouses since 2014, implying that he cannot be held responsible for this blast. This introduction by the Prime Minister was aimed at avoiding accountability and covering other possible facts.

Tonight, Beirut has been declared a distressed area. Indeed, it is distressed due to this massive explosion, bankruptcy and corruption, its presidents and government, and the deaths that we could not manage to accurately count yet, and over one thousand injured. Let us cry over Beirut.
